About the Author

V.K. Pasanen

Ville lives in the Seattle area with his wife of over 30 years. He has 2 grown children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and 2 dogs―a lab-mix from Corsicana, Texas and a peach poodle from Cheng Du, China. Outside writing, he works as a relief veterinarian. His hobbies include snowboarding, hiking, music, traveling, and reading/listening to books. A list of his eclectic literary selections can be found at Goodreads, profile V.K. Pasanen. A likewise eclectic sampling of music can be found on Spotify playlistTales from the Afterworld.

His writing inspirations are as varied as his tastes in reading and music but are deeply grounded in his Finnish roots and his grandfather’s legacy. He also gives credit to Metallica. After bassist Cliff Burton’s tragic death in 1986, he was inspired to read John Donne’s No Man is an Island and read Ernest Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell Tolls. But it wasn’t until April 2017 that the story in his head became an Interview with Death.

In 2020, he released Touch of Pestilence, Tales from the Afterworld Books 1-4, and, in 2021, his first vision of An Interview with Death. In the second half of 2021, he stepped away from the Afterworld to write a nonfiction tale called Road to Majalahti. It was the story of his journey to reunite with his Finnish family. When he finished, he re-evaluated his fiction saga and believed the quality could be better. So, he unpublished his books and rewrote each. After several revisions, he hired a great editor, redid the book covers, and moved Interview with Death to pole position where it always belonged. He also hired a phenomenal voice actor for the audible versions and hopes to retain his services for the ongoing saga.
